David Hyde Pierce: Announces marriage
Emmy and Tony-winning actor David Hyde Pierce, who is best known for his role as psychiatrist Dr. Niles Crane on the NBC sitcom "Frasier", has revealed on "The View" that he and his longtime partner married last fall.
Pierce said on Thursday that he and TV producer Brian Hargrove tied the knot on October 24, 2008 in California. They have been together for 25 years.
They have got married a few weeks before California voters passed Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage.
The actor was clearly angered over the recent passing of Prop 8 and his decision to finally speak about his love life is surely related to the recent stripping away of gay rights.
Pierce said, "I was sitting in front of my television wondering, 'Gee, I hope it's okay the Supreme Court thinks I'm married.' Excuse me, it's none of your business".
They live in New York and Los Angeles.
