Ron White: Plans not to do comedy album
The new album of comedian Ron White titled "Behavioral Problems," recently grabbed top position on Billboard's Top Comedy Albums chart. However Ron White, who made a name for himself on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy, said that the newly released album will be his last.
He said, "Three's kind of a magic number with comedy albums," "and I've really done more than that because of all the Blue Collar stuff. I just don't want to overstay (my welcome)."
White himself admitted that he would focus on touring. He said, "The live show is staying real steady," "That's not true for everybody, so I'm happy about that. People don't have the disposable cash that they did."
Ron White started paying his comedy-act dues in the year 1986 by performing 50 weeks per year on the road for fifteen years, and he no longer performs some of his best-known material. He said,"It's comedy, not like a song," "If you know the joke, you know the joke."
Ron, who is much fond of telling hilarious tales, said that he has always been a storyteller. He added, "When I was a kid, 10 people could see the same car crash, but I would see it in a funny way," "I've got this dysfunctional brain. For some reason it processes information and it comes out funny."
The chart performance of his new release provides White to familiar territory. For instance his 2006 set "You Can't Fix Stupid" also grabbed No. 1 position and has sold 339,000 copies. His best-selling album remains 2003's "Drunk in Public" .
Recently his Comedy Central special, which aired on April 19 , drew 3.3 million viewers, according to the network, and ranks as Comedy Central's most-watched stand-up special of the year.
In the mean time Ron White has inked a new deal with Comedy Central for "The Ron White Show," a ½ hr program that will be shot in Atlanta. White is going to take his "dysfunctional" take on national stories, thereby focusing on the heartland. |
