Farrah Fawcett: To air documentary on cancer battle
American actress Farrah Fawcett will go public with her two-and-a-half year struggle with anal cancer. She will tell the story in her own way through a video diary. NBC News will air "Farrah's Story" on May 15.
The former "Charlie's Angels" star, Farrah Fawcett, will tell her feelings and the process of her cancer treatments in the United States as well as Germany in the documentary which will be shot as a video diary.
In one of the clips, the 62 year old Fawcett said, "This film is very personal. At the time, I didn't know if anybody would ever see it. But at some point, the footage took on a life of its own and dictated that it be seen".
Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Alana Stewart will also appear in the documentary along with Fawcett's husband Ryan O'Neal.
Doug Vaughan, senior vice president of specials and alternative development at NBC, said "This is an incredibly intimate and moving story about Farrah's struggle".
Rcenetly, the actress said, "I've never understood why people are interested in anything that I do. Until now".
Farrah Fawcett is a renowned pop culture figure whose hairstyle was emulated by millions of young women and a sex symbol for millions of young men in the 1970s and 1980s.
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006. Four months later she declared herself cancer-free only to have the disease return in May 2007.
