Bob Dylan: Tops British album charts once again

Bob Dylan, the oldest musician has made a history in the Britain's album charts on Sunday.

The 67 year old Bob Dylan's 33rd studio album "Together Through Life", which was released here on April 28, went straight to the top of the UK album charts, nearly 40 years after he last topped the charts. Official UK Charts Company said this on Sunday.

Dylan's "Together Through Life" was his seventh British number one and his first since "New Morning" headed the charts in 1970.

Gennaro Castaldo of music retail giant HMV said, " Dylan is arguably our greatest cultural icon, and his words and music remain as relevant and as powerful today as they did five decades ago. His albums always sell consistently well, but with demand for his catalogue of recordings up significantly in recent months, it's evident that Dylan is going through one of his zeitgeist moments, as a new generation of fans join his more established followers in appreciating his musical legacy".

English rock band The Enemy's second album "Music For The People" reached number two, while Lady Gaga's "The Fame" dropped from top to number three.

American R&B singer-songwriter Beyonce was fourth with "I Am Sasha Fierce", while Lily Allen was unchanged in fifth with "It's Not Me It's You".

In the singles chart, Ghanaian-born singer Tinchy Stryder stayed at the top spot with "Number 1", while synthesizer duo La Roux remained at number two with "In For The Kill".
