Wanda Sykes: Gets late-night show
American comedian and actress Wanda Sykes will host a late-night show.
Fox network are finalizing a deal with Wanda Sykes for a Saturday late-night show.
The one hour show, which is scheduled to premiere in this fall, will succeed the recently canceled sketch comedy show "MadTV". It will be topical, featuring a panel of recurring guests sparring over issues concerning politics as well as pop culture.
The network is expected to finalize the deal as early as possible.
Wanda Sykes was named by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 25 funniest people in America in 2004. She will host the 2009 White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
The actress, who co-starred on CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine", has previously headlined the sitcom "Wanda at Large" on Fox.
The late-night show is generaly dominated by male hosts.
Wanda Sykes will be among those few female hosts, who have presented late-night show.
