John McCain: Gives 'Twitterview' to ABC
Seventy two year old Republican senator John McCain conducted the first "Twitterview" that is an interview via micro-blogging service Twitter with ABC television’s political talk show host George Stephanopoulos.
Earlier during his failed presidential bid John McCain was mocked against Barack Obama for being less tech-savvy. Now he has made a little bit of Web history of his own on Tuesday.
John McCain, whose messages on Twitter are followed by nearly 225,000 people, gave reply to nearly ten questions that were sent in the 140-character-or-less Twitter format.
When being asked, "What worries you more: Pakistan or Iran?" McCain said, "Both. The challenges are different but both significant."
Asked whether he agreed with former US vice president Dick Cheney's claim that Obama was "putting (the) US at risk of new terror attack," McCain said it was "too early to draw that conclusion."
He was also asked about a spat between Meghan McCain and a radio talk show host who drew the ire of the Arizona senator's daughter by calling her "plus-sized."
"I'm proud of my daughter and she has a right to her opinions," McCain wrote. "Like any family we agree on some things and disagree on others."
McCain began using Twitter on January 23. Since then John McCain has sent over 220 updates on the service. It includes a popular series of lists of the "top ten porkiest projects" inserted by congress members into the economic stimulus bill.
