Jonas Brothers: Will be selling tween girl clothing
Jonas Brothers have already sold plenty of albums, concert tickets and books to their adoring fans, and now Kevin, Joe and Nick are about to dress them in sweater vests and denim skirts.
The Jonas Brothers, through Disney Consumer Products, franchise will soon release a full clothing line for tween girls.
This line of sportswear will reach mass retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sears and J.C. Penney in time for back-to-school shopping, Women's Wear Daily reports.
Pamela Lifford, executive vice president of global fashion at Disney Consumer Products said, we see this line as high opportunity for back-to-school. Also, as an added element, within each of the retailers we are offering up differentiation, so that each store has exclusive product on their floors.
The apparel collection, called Jonas, will include woven tops, T-shirts, polo shirts with ruffle accents, plaid belted shorts, leggings and jeans. The clothes, which will retail from $9.99 to $24.99, are inspired by the preppy garments seen on their upcoming Disney Channel series, JONAS, which will air in May. (The line even includes an argyle sweater vest with the logo of their fictional high school, Horace Mantis Academy.)
Because the clothing is based on the characters on the show, the Jonas Brothers were not involved with the design of the product. But if fans want to pay more literal tribute to the band, more than 200 Disney Stores across the nation will carry a separate collection of Jonas Brothers T-shirts, which will have graphics of the three brothers on them.
Miley Cyrus 's Hannah Montana line and merchandise from High School Musical brought in $2.7 billion in retail sales for 2008. Disney anticipates the Jonas endeavor will be equally, if not more, profitable for them.
The difference we have with the Jonas Brothers is that we have three young men, Lifford said. And when you look at their customer following, we have the whole heartthrob play, which is a great thing for us to work with when we are talking about tween girls.
She added: The Jonas Brothers are a lifestyle, not just a boy band. Their movie [Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience] lets you into their world, and the clothing line is just another way to do that. Its a way to get closer to them and their world.
Disney is planning major in-store promotions for the launch season this summer.
