US President Barack Obama has paid tribute to the late actor Christopher Reeve, who emerged as a promoter of embryonic stem cell research after being paralyzed in a horseback riding accident.
By lifting the ban on federal funds for stem cell research, Barack Obama added on that the nation owes a debt of gratitude to people like Reeve, who along with his beloved wife, Dana, formed a foundation that is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Obama went on reminiscing the fighting spirit of Christopher Reeve and his efforts to regain the ability to walk and upbeat outlook.
Obama said that he wished Reeve and his wife could have been at the White House Monday to witness the event.
Christopher Reeve, who was injured in the year 1995, died in the year 2004 due to heart failure. Dana Reeve died of lung cancer in the year 2006. |
