The attorney of Rihanna said that the singer would testify against Chris Brown if called as a witness in assault case against boyfriend.
Donald Etra, who is representing twenty one year old Barbados native, added on Friday that Rihanna would be required by law to testify in case the prosecutors subpoena her.
On Thursday Etra made an appearance in court when Chris Brown made his first appearance on charges of assaulting and made criminal threats to his superstar girlfriend. Brown's arraignment was postponed till 6th April.
It is reported that Rihanna did not want a "no contact" order that was issued against Brown. However she will report of violations of an order thereby prohibiting Chris from threatening, harassing or harming his girlfriend. As per court order he has the authority to record any violations of the order.
The order is not uncommon when a victim says that he or she does not want to completely cut off communication with a person. Steve Cron, a Santa Monica criminal defense attorney who has represented celebrities such as Paula Poundstone and Scott Weiland, made the comment.
Cron added, "There are limits to when you can record phone calls and conversations," "She can record those conversations if it's for the purpose of showing there's a violation of the restraining order."
Etra also added that Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, wants the case to be over with quickly. He continued, "She wants to get along with her life and career."
A search warrant affidavit that was launched by a police detective on Los Angeles described a brutal fight in which Brown allegedly punched, bit and choked Rihanna till she nearly lost consciousness.
