Stephen King: Agent pleased at e-book debut
There is enough reason for the fans of Stephan King. The latest venture of Stephen King on internet has becomes a best-seller. On Tuesday King's agent, Ralph Vicinanza added that downloads of King's novella "UR," available only as an e-book and released to coincide with the launch of Amazon's upgraded Kindle reader, have reached "five figures" after nearly 3 weeks on the market.
In the year 2000 King's novella "Riding the Bullet" was downloaded almost hundreds of thousands of times, thereby overwhelming Amazon.com and other online sites.
During a telephonic interview Vicinanza has added that Amazon would not be providing specific numbers till sixty days after its release on 12th February by saying, "We've been told that they're in the five figures already.
He added, "We're excited. They're happy, we're happy and from the initial information that we're getting it seems to be a success."
Till Tuesday afternoon, "UR" has been placed at No. 18 position on Amazon's list of Kindle best-sellers.
Vicinanza approached King with the idea of writing a story for the release of an e-book as a way to "create some excitement" in electronic publishing at a time when the book industry is going through very difficult phase.
The New York-based agent also said that"UR" will be soon available in print.
The Kindle 2, a slimmed-down model with upgraded components and storage capacity, went on sale on 9th February for 359 dollars. The gadget downloads books, newspaper stories and blog posts over a wireless network.
"UR," that is available as a download for 2.99 dollars, is about a college English instructor whose pink Kindle allows him to access to new books by famous dead authors and also newspapers that tell of a future event that he is compelled to try to forestall.
