Angela Bassett: To make debut as director
There is good news for the fans of Angela Bassett. She is going to make her debut as a director with her film titled "United States." It is an indie feature where she will also produce with her Bassett/Vance Prods. partner and husband, Courtney B. Vance.
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Angela Bassett. According to them, the film is based on the novel "Erasure" written by Percival Everett. Erasure is a dramatic comedy about Monk Ellison who is a prominent black literary figure who writes an unreal autobiography from the perspective of a barely literate hoodlum to decry what is wrong with the glorification of "ghetto" culture.
Dwayne Johnson-Cochran wrote the adaptation. "States" will be the first production project of Bassett/Vance.
On the big screen, Bassett recently has made appearance in the Notorious B.I.G. biopic "Notorious" and "Akeelah and the Bee."
Vance, who received Tony nominations for his stage work titled "Fences" and "Six Degrees of Separation," is going to act in the ABC sci-fi pilot namely "Flash Forward." He also has joined the cast of the Harrison Ford-starring feature "Crowley."
Bassett and Vance work together on "ER."
