Woody Allen: Selects 'Slumdog' star for next film
Woody Allen has selected the actress Freida Pinto, the star of "Slumdog Millionaire", for his next film.
Freida Pinto, the film's luminous leading lady who has been wowing the world on the red carpet and across television interviews lining up to the Slumdog's Oscar glory, has signed for a role in Woody Allen’s next mega movie project in Hollywood. She will join Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts and Josh Brolin in the still-to-be-titled movie for which shooting will begin this year.
Woody Allen, one of America's iconic directors has undoubtedly created some of the most memorable female characters in cinema. His classic movies are "Annie Hall", "Crimes and Misdemeanours", "Husbands and Wives" and "Bullets Over Broadway".
Woody Allen, a three-time Oscar winner, has propelled numerous actresses on to Oscar glory. Aside from Cruz, Mira Sorvino also won an Oscar for her role in Mighty Aphrodite. Dianne Wiest received an Academy Award for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway, while Diane Keaton, who starred in numerous films by Allen, won an Oscar for Annie Hall in 1977.
