Michelle Yeoh: Hopeful about China getting an Oscar
Action star Michelle Yeoh added that she was confident that a film from China will soon follow the example of India's "Slumdog Millionaire" and become a big winner at the Oscars.
Sources have thrown more light on this news of Michelle Yeoh. During a press conference in Hong Kong she said, "I believe very strongly in the Hong Kong and Chinese cinemas. I think... our day (to win the Oscar) will come very, very soon."
The Malaysian-born actress starred in martial arts epic titled "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," which has won 4 Oscars in the year 2001 but missed out the best film award.
She also said that the wealth of legends and attractive landscapes in Asia was a great resource for the region's film industry.
Yeoh, who was a Bond Girl in "Tomorrow Never Dies", sent her best wishes to "Slumdog" director Danny Boyle on his best director award on Sunday.
"I cried. I was so happy for him," added Yeoh, who worked with Boyle in the sci-fi thriller titled "Sunshine".
"Slumdog Millionaire" is a Bollywood-inspired film about a Mumbai tea boy who rises from poverty and enters a television quiz show to win millions and find the love of his life.
