Jade Goody: Britain grants wedding night wish
British authorities have granted the dying reality television star Jade Goody her wedding wish on Friday thereby allowing her would-be-husband to spend the night with her after they marry sometime during this weekend.
The justice ministry said it will relax curfew rules on her fiance Jack Tweed, who is just released from prison, so that the couple can be together on Sunday night after their nuptials.
"We are absolutely thrilled. It will be the dream finish to her dream day, and it makes so much difference," added Max Clifford, publicist for Goody who sparked a racism row with India almost 2 years ago.
"Our heartfelt thanks from Jade and from Jack for allowing him to stay the evening in these very special circumstances," added the publicist.
Goody has made an announcement that she would marry twenty one year old Tweed shortly after doctors told her earlier this month that her cervical cancer had spread, and that she had only few months to live.
Clifford has defended Goody's right to make money from her situation, including selling media rights to cover the wedding, to help her two children after she dies.
Justice Secretary Jack Straw commented that Tweed will be able to stay with Goody till Monday, instead of going home by 7:00 pm on Sunday in line with conditions imposed after his recent release from jail.
A ministry spokesman stated that Straw "has enormous sympathy for Jade Goody and her family at this time. She is showing extraordinary courage and his thoughts are with her and her family."
Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who paid tribute to courage and strength of earlier this week, voiced sympathy for her again on Friday, saying: "I think everybody is sad at the tragedy that's befallen Jade Goody.
He continued, "Everyone who suffers cancer has the thoughts of me and I think the whole country over what they've got to go through”.
Goody, a former dental nurse who gained popularity on the reality television show "Big Brother", after triggering a racism row in the year 2007 when she called fellow "Celebrity Big Brother" housemate, Shilpa Shetty, "Shilpa Poppadom".
Tweed was fitted with an electronic tag and ordered to comply with a daily curfew after his recent early release from an 18-month jail term, thereby imposed for beating a teenager in a golf club.
