Heath Ledger: Going to the Oscars is "bittersweet" for Dad
Kim Ledger, Heath Ledger's dad, arrived in L.A. Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Academy Awards.
Kim told: "I may say a few words", if his son wins best supporting actor for his role as Joker in The Dark Knight.
Heath Ledger says he's honored by the nomination.
"I'm extremely proud," he said, but cautioned: "You can't expect to win something like this. [The Academy] could just as easily turn left, as [it] could go right."
However, attending the show on his behalf of his son, who died last January at age 28 from an accidental drug overdose, is "bittersweet, obviously," he said.
Heath's father says, his extended family flew in from their native Perth, Australia for the Oscars.
"We're all here", he said.
if Michelle Williams will be at the awards show, Kim wouldn't comment. He said "of course" daughter Matilda, 3, would be given the statue "down the line".
Although, Kim isn't betting on Heath taking the prize.
"You can't take anything for granted," Kim said.
