Paul Simon: Reunited with Garfunkel in NY
Paul Simon, who is best known for his partnership with Art Garfunkel in the duo Simon & Garfunkel, served up a very special early Valentine's Day treat for his fans at Beacon Theatre on Friday.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel joined forces for a surprise reunion in New York and performed three songs at the newly renovated Beacon Theater.
They performed "The Sound of Silence", "The Boxer" and "Old Friends" during the encore of Simon's sold out show.
The reunion added extra glitz to an evening attended by celebrities such as New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi and Jimmy Fallon, and showcased the Beacon's refurbished interior and new sound system.
The 67 year old Paul Simon opened with "Gumboots" ("You don't feel you could love me") from his best-selling album, "Graceland" and followed it with another "The Boy in the Bubble". After "Slip Slidin' Away", the laconic artist spoke beyond thank-yous for the first time. He also played the newer material such as "Father and Daughter" and "Amulet", a collaboration with Brazilian vocalist Luciana Souza.
Simon also performed at the Beacon on Saturday.
