A R Rahman: Wins BAFTA Best Music Award
The year 2009 is raining awards on A R Rahman. The musician from Madras has been receiving one award after another. First, it was the Annual Critics' Choice Award; then, it was the Golden Globe; then the Oscar nominations and now it is the BAFTA.
After becoming the first Indian to win the Golden Globe and getting a triple Oscar nomination in two categories for the same movie, the 43 year old A R Rahman is the first Indian musician to win the BAFTA award.
Resul Pookutty was the other Indian to win a BAFTA Award for Best Sound editing for Slumdog Millionaire.

Best Actress- Kate Winslet, The Reader
Best Film- Slumdog Millionaire
Best Music- AR Rahman, Slumdog Millionaire
Best Director-Danny Boyle, Sulmdog Millionaire
Best Screenplay- Simon Beaufoy, Slumdog Millionaire
Best Supporting Actor-Heath Ledger, Dark Knight
Best Supporting Actress- Penelope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona AGENCIES
