'Slumdog Millionaire' sweeps BAFTAs
"Slumdog Millionaire" again became the winner on Sunday. This time it won seven British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. The movie was nominated in 11 categories.
The steady downpour and freezing temperature in London couldn't dampen the spirits of the "Slumdog Millionaire" team. Danny Boyle's Mumbai-set drama swept the top prizes -- Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
It's other successes included Best Editing, Best Cinematography and also Best Sound for Indian sound designer Resul Pookutty.
After winning the Golden Globes, the movie again won BAFTAs.
Other victors included "In Bruges" for Best Original Screenplay, "WALL-E" for Best Animated Film, Mickey Rourke for Leading Actor in "The Wrestler", Kate Winslet for Leading Actress in "The Reader", Penelope Cruz for Supporting Actress in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and Heath Ledger for Supporting Actor in "The Dark Knight".
