Jennifer Hudson: Gives a tearful acceptance speech at Grammy
R&B singer Jennifer Hudson collected her first Grammy Award, best R&B album for her self-titled debut, on Sunday with a tearful speech.
The 27 year old Jennifer Hudson said, "I don't really know what to say. First of all, I've got Whitney Houston presenting to me and, wow, I'm just in awe right now. Thank God, who brought me through. I'd like to thank my family in heaven and those who are here today".
Hudson also thanked her fiance David Otunga and her sisters, who were there.
Jennifer Hudson continued her triumphant return to public life when she took the stage to accept the award from Whitney Houston. She admitted that receiving the honour from one of her idols made finding the right words to thank her colleagues and loved ones much more challenging.
Later, Hudson performed “You Pulled Me Through” with backing from a gospel choir.
