Jessica Simpson: Latest film goes straight to DVD
There's something in common between Jessica Simpson and Audrina Patridge.
Jessica Simpson's latest flick, Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous (original title: Major Movie Star), was released straight to DVD today, while Patridge's first movie Into the Blue 2, will hits stores April 21.
"Just because you're a reality TV star, it doesn't mean you'll be a box office success," says Us senior movie editor, Bradley Jacobs.
Jacobs points out that Simpson's first movie, The Dukes of Hazzard (shot in the height of her career while Simpson looked her sexiest), earned a whopping $80 million -- but her following films didn't find the same success.
Employee of the Month earned $28 million, while Blonde Ambition hit video stores shelves after showing in just eight Texas theaters and earning about $1,300.
"The numbers speak for themselves," Jacobs adds.
His advice for The Hills' Patridge -- who donned a green bikini for the duration of the Hawaii shoot this summer?
"She's going to have to be more careful and pick better projects," Jacobs says.
"Not everyone is Jennifer Hudson , [who got her start on American Idol]," he continues. "Audrina is going to have to work a little harder to achieve the actress title."
