The nominees for the 81st Academy Awards were declared early this morning. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button became a big name thereby scoring thirteen nominations to lead the pack of nominees. This year's "little film that could," Slumdog Millionaire, has grabbed ten nominations, including one for the category of Best Picture.
Meryl Streep has continued her long-term relationship with Oscar Award, thereby earning her 15th nomination for her role in Doubt.
Surprisingly there were many predictable films that have been opted out from Oscar nomination. These include The Dark Knight that was shut out for Best Picture consideration, Sally Hawkins in Happy-Go-Lucky, and Kate Winslet in Revolutionary Road. However Kate got nominated for her work in the film ‘The Reader’.
Beyond everyone’s imagination, Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and Melissa Leo (Frozen River) got Best Actor/Actress nominations. |
