The hairstylist for Michelle Obama has landed a development deal to star in a reality show.
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Michelle Obama. Former Chicagoan Johnny Wright has made the first lady's stylish hairdo for the Democratic National Convention and also for her forthcoming appearance on the cover of Vogue magazine and other occasions. He has signed a deal with 44 Blue, which has produced reality shows like Style Network's "Split Ends" and A&E's "L.A. Gang Unit."
44 Blue executive vice president Stephanie Drachkovitch also was available for comments. She has identified Wright while searching for a reality host.
Stephanie added, "There aren't many people of color doing makeover and beauty." "We figured there's got to be somebody out there with a mainstream clientele, but brings a different point of view."
Wright, moved to Los Angeles recently and his clients included actors Vivica A. Fox, Rebecca Gayheart and Lauren London and "Sex and the City" writer Candace Bushnell. Drachkovitch said that she was impressed with the hairstylist's personality before she knew his Obama connection.
Drachkovitch said, "We fell in love with him before we knew," "There's a lot of hairstylists out there who do celebrities, but they can't center a show."
Very soon Drachkovitch will pitch the idea to cable networks as a docu-soap or a makeover series. The well-timed Obama connection does not hurt.
Regarding Michelle it is said that "She has certainly emerged as a style icon," Drachkovitch said of the first lady. "She has everyday beauty mixed with elegance. It certainly raises (Wright's) profile." |
