Rebecca Hall: Shortlisted for BAFTA
British actress Rebecca Hall, the duaghter of theatre director Peter Hall and opera singer Maria Ewing, has been shortlisted for BAFTA as the big screen's most promising newcomer.
Rebecca Hall, the "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" star, is leading a shortlist of five young actors for the Orange Rising Star Award. This award is given on the same day as the BAFTA Film Awards. This award is to acknowledge new talents in the acting industry whether for film, television or both.
The 26 year old Hall has also been nominated Golden Globes award for her lead role as Vicky in Woody Allen's film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", in which she played the role of an American girl who falls for a womanising artist during a holiday in Spain.
Rebecca Hall received her first big break at the age of eight when her father, Sir Peter Hall, cast her in television drama "The Camomile Lawn".
Her next role is opposite Colin Firth in "Dorian Gray". This is an upcoming British film adaptation of Oscar Wilde's 1890 novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray". This version is directed by Oliver Parker and written by Toby Finlay.
The other shortlisted actors are Michael Fassbender, Noel Clarke, Michael Cera and Toby Kebbell. Rebecca Hall is the only female contender shortlisted for BAFTA.
It is the only Bafta category, which is chosen by the public. This award is to dedicate Mary Selway who was a renowned casting director and helped many new actors and actresses to fame and recognition.
The Baftas will be held on February 8 at the Royal Opera House and broadcasted on BBC. |
