Heath Ledger: Death became biggest movie story of 2008
Late Australian actor Heath Ledger beat all the freshly released movies of 2008 movie poll that was released on Thursday. He became the biggest news story, most missed star and best villain categories for his character in the posthumous popular film titled "The Dark Knight."
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Heath Ledger. As per their reports Heath Ledger whose death at an age of twenty eight in the month of January of an accidental prescription drugs overdose shocked the world. He was voted the biggest movie news story of the year 2008 by 83 percent of votes in the poll coordinated by a famous online polling site.
Heath Ledger also topped the list of movie stars voters whom every one mostly missed after their deaths. He has edged out the late Paul Newman by 56 to 20 percent of votes.
Also Heath Ledger won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations for his supporting actor role as The Joker in the Batman move "The Dark Knight", which was released 6 months after his death.
"The Dark Knight", the biggest-grossing box office movie worldwide of the year 2008, won the best action movie and "movie most worth your cash" in a popular poll.
However teen vampire movie titled "Twilight", a favorite with young girls around the world, gave Heath Ledger and "The Dark Knight" a run for the money.
"Twilight" beat "Sex and the City" as the best chick flick of the year 2008. Actor Robert Pattinson was voted as breakout star of the year and Pattinson and his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart also grabbed the best on-screen couple with forty one percent votes.
Sexiest babe of the year 2008 and best nude scene went to Angelina Jolie for the action movie "Wanted" and Jolie also topped the poll as the actress with the best multiple performances of 2008 for "Wanted", "The Changeling", and "Kung Fu Panda."
However Angelina Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt came 2nd to Will and Jada Pinkett Smith as the best off-screen couple with thirty two percent and thirty eight percent of votes respectively.
The poll began from Dec 17-29 and attracted 3.5 million votes. |
