Dick Clark: Most watched New Year's Eve countdown program
There is good news for the fans of Dick Clark. His program titled "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest" on ABC channel has continued to rule as the most-watched New Year's Eve countdown special. It has counted an average of 8.5 metered-market household rating during its telecast from 11:30 p.m.-1 a.m.
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Dick Clark. Interestingly its primary competitor "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly" on NBC channel has earned a 5.0 rating during its 11 p.m.-12:30 a.m. telecast. By a thin margin, this is the highest metered-market average of Daly in the show's five telecasts till date.
In the year 2005, Dick Clark has returned to the program and Seacrest was added to the ticket. It is also reported that Clark has hosted nearly thirty six of the show's 37 telecasts. Although some of the viewers find the physical condition of Dick Clark a bleak reminder of mortality at the time what was supposed to be a hopeful calendar-turning event, the show's steep ratings plunge when Philbin hosted and relative recovery in the year 2005 suggest viewers prefer Clark on the show. The "Rockin' Eve" downward trend also started before the stroke of Dick Clark, with declines posted during each of the first few years of the decade.
In nutshell, both Dick Clark and Daly's performances are encouraging. In current times the countdown events are holding up better than some other types of specials including award shows. |
