 Steven Gerrard: Charged over bar fight
On Tuesday Steven Gerrard, the captain of English Premier League leaders Liverpool, was charged with physical attack over an alleged bar brawl. The police has told the news to the reporters of a popular news agency.
Details about Steven Gerrard have been inferred from quite a number of sources. According to them, twenty eight year old football star was charged along with 2 other men who were also arrested on early Monday. He was arrested after an incident at a late-night bar in Southport, north of Liverpool in northwest England.
A thirty four year-old local man, who was the venue's disc jockey, required hospital treatment after suffering from facial injuries.
"He was charged in the early hours of this morning with assault and affray." During an interview with the reporters of a popular news agency the comment was made by a spokesman for Merseyside Police.
The England midfielder was released on bail from Southport police station sometime early on Tuesday.
The disturbance occurred hours after Liverpool won 5-1 at Newcastle United on Sunday. There Steven Gerrard scored 2 goals.
"Merseyside Police has charged Steven Gerrard, 28, of Formby, Sefton, John Doran, 29, and Ian Smith, 19, both from Huyton, Liverpool, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray following an incident at Bold Street in Southport in the early hours of Monday, December 29." The local police force has made this statement.
He further continued, "The three men will be appearing at North Sefton Magistrates' Court on January 23."
Gerrard, Doran and Smith have been bailed, while three other men who were arrested in connection with the incident have got the release on police bail pending further inquiries.
Steven Gerrard was detained at around 2:30 am after a disturbance at the Lounge Inn. It is a restaurant on Southport's Bold Street which doubles up as a music venue.
On Monday the town centre bar was closed. However ruins of broken glass were visible on the floor.
