Madonna: Achieves biggest success in 2008 tour
Madonna is the queen of music world of 2008.
This year Madonna enjoyed her "Sticky & Sweet" concert tour, which was the biggest-grossing music tour of 2008 in North America.
According to magazine Pollstar, "Sticky & Sweet" was the year's top concert with ticket sales in excess of $105 million. After launching last summer in Wales, Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" tour hit North America in early October for nearly eight weeks of concert dates.
Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring said in a statement, "Not only will this tour be the top selling tour of all time for a solo artist and a female artist (eclipsing her own record), but it will position her as one of the top selling touring artists of all time".
Madonna's show was closely followed by another solo diva, Canadian-born Celine Dion's show. Celine Dion is on the second position of Pollstar's list, who earned $94 million from her first tour since ending her long residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and returning to the concert trail with her "Taking Chances" tour.
Rock veterans The Eagles were third on Pollstar's list, grossing $73.4 million for their tour to support possibly their last studio album "Long Road out of Eden".
