Paris calls on Arnold to Terminate her jail sentence
Aaron Mclear, a Schwarzenegger spokesman, told the media that the governor’s office hadn’t yet reviewed the petition but has received a bevy of e-mails from constituents both for and against a gubernatorial pardon.
“We’ll treat this as we would any other case of this nature, but it would be premature for the governor to get involved until the individual has exhausted his or her judicial remedies,” McLear added.
That is, Schwarzenegger will give Hilton an answer when and if the appeals process - which her lawyers started Monday - fails her.
As you know by now, the 26-year-old socialite was slapped with 45 days in the slammer - which she must start serving before June 5 - after a judge ruled she knowingly violated the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
Paris blamed her long-suffering publicist, Elliot Mintz, for the infraction, saying he had misinformed her and told her she could drive for buisness purposes. Begging the question: Since when does Paris work??? But we digress.....
Hilton fired Mintz over the weekend then rehired him yesterday. Mintz told the New York Post he “loved” Hilton and had set up a meeting with her Monday night to “have a conversation about her future.”
That conversation eventually led the duo to L.A.’s Paramount Studio for the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Drug Awareness celebration of its annual Sober Day, reported People magazine.
The maggie reported that while many guests in attendence expressed dismay at Hilton’s punishment, actor Tom Arnold said he thought she deserved a more severe wake-up call.
“I do think she should do a lockdown rehab - but not a nice one,” the “Happy Endings” star told People. “I’ve got some ideas - there’s a place in Alabama that worked for Robert Downey Jr.” |
