 Lil Wayne: Selected as 'Man Of The Year' by MTV News
American rapper Lil Wayne, who is very busy these days and dominating hip-hop, has been named the 'Man of the Year' by MTV News. He has also garnered the unofficial title of 'Best Rapper Alive' by legions of his fans, and some of his critics.
Lil Wayne has sold a million copies of his album "Tha Carter III" in one week in June and last month he has received eight Grammy nominations.
Hip hop mogul Sean Combs told about Lil Wayne to MTV, "I've seen Wayne come up, and it's been a long, long road for him. And the way he did it, and put it together, and how he became his own man but stayed down with his crew, and stayed true to who he was, and stayed consistent. He deserves everything he's getting right now. He's helped invigorate the game, he's the future, and he deserves it".
Lil Wayne said that with his superstar status, he has to be more cautious about how he carries himself because people are watching. He said, "Really it's just, it's very important cause I mean you got, you got to notice that you are being seen, you know what I am saying? I could walk outside with my man and five out of...I mean a group of ten, maybe five out of that ten gonna look at me in a different way than they gonna look at my man. So I got to take that into consideration". |
