Roger Ebert: Gets life membership from Directors Guild
Award-winning American film critic and screenwriter Roger Ebert will receive Directors Guild of America's Honorary Life Member Award, the guild announced today.
Michael Apted, president of Directors Guild of America, said in a statement, "From the blockbuster to the tiny independent film, Roger Ebert has devoted his career to sharing his love of film with generations of moviegoers. In doing so, he's kept directors on their toes for more than 40 years".
The 66 year old Roger Ebert has battled cancer and undergone surgery that has left him unable to speak but continues to write film reviews.
Roger Ebert is regarded as America's best-known film critic, thanks in part to the TV show he co-hosted first with Gene Siskel and then with Richard Roeper.
The 61st annual DGA Awards will be presented on January 31 at Century City. |
