 John Walsh: Police solved son's murder
Television crime show host John Walsh’s six year old son Adam Walsh was kidnapped and killed almost twenty seven years ago by a drifter who later passed away in prison. On Tuesday police said so at the time of closing the books of one of famous unsolved crimes of United States.
Details about John Walsh’s news have been inferred from quite a number of sources. According to them this little boy, who was seen in a snap holding a baseball bat and wearing a red cap, went missing from the toy department of a mall in Hollywood, on July 1981. His head was found in a canal almost two weeks later but his body was never found.
Hollywood police announced on Tuesday that Ottis Toole, a longtime suspect in the Walsh killing, was in fact the murderer. Toole died in prison in the year1996.
"For 27 years we've been asking, 'Who could take a 6-year-old boy and murder him and decapitate him? Who?'" "We needed to know. We needed to know. And today we know," commented John Walsh during a news conference.
"The not knowing has been torture," "But that journey's over."
Hollywood police added that they have taken the decision to stop the investigation and declared that Toole was the killer after a thorough review of records.
John Walsh’s son galvanized a movement for the protection of children from predators. John Walsh turned out to be the leading voice for missing and exploited children and also laid the foundation of the Adam Walsh Child Resource Center.
John Walsh became the host of "America's Most Wanted," a famous show in television that made its debut in the year 1988 for publicizing and helping to capture fugitive crime suspects.
In the year 2006 U.S. President George W. Bush has signed the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act to establish a national sex offender registry and also to make it harder for predators to get access to the children on the Internet.
Toole was a partner of notorious serial killer Henry Lee Lucas and confessed to have murderer numerous murders. He admitted to killing Adam Walsh but later renounced.
Toole was serving five years of his life sentence for murder. He died of liver failure and was buried at a state prison and no relative came in order to claim his body.
