Britney Spears: PETA condemns singer's music video
After releasing "Circus", Britney Spears has recently been celebrating her sixth studio album with lot of performances and appearances.
But on Monday, the animal rights organization PETA has condemned the Britney Spears' new video album "Circus" for its alleged animal cruelty.
In a statement, PETA has alleged that "cruelly trained lions and elephants" were used for the "Circus" video. PETA has written to Britney Spears to explain "how trainers shock, whip, and beat exotic animals into performing".
In the statement, PETA Director Debbie Leahy wrote, "Britney may think her life is a circus, but for the animals who are whipped, chained, and beaten to perform under the real big top, the cruelty is very real. She may be headed for a comeback, but when it comes to animals, she still can’t get her act together".
PETA has also specifically accused the trainers Gary and Kari Johnson of having "long histories of exploiting animals".
This is not the first time Britney Spears has used animals. In 2001, during her MTV Video Music Awards performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U", she appeared on the stage with a giant boa constrictor.
