DMX: Nabbed by FBI agents in Florida
Rapper DMX is now in custody.
FBI agents arrested the fugitive rapper DMX at Florida on Teusday. A warrant was issued by a Phoenix judge after he failed to appear in court last Friday and a $5,000 reward was offered by the Maricopa County Sheriff's office for his capture.
According to a FBI spokeswoman, DMX was arrested at a private residence in Palm Island in Miami Beach.
DMX, whose birth name is Earl Simmons, has been arrested several times in Arizona in the past year and failed to appear for several court dates.
DMX will remain in jail until he goes before a judge in Miami on Wednesday morning. The rapper's Miami-based attorney, Bradford Cohen, predicts that the judge will not grant bond and that he will be extradited to Arizona within 15 days.
DMX was scheduled to attend the court last week for a status hearing on his upcoming trial related to charges of drug possession, identity theft and animal cruelty. When he failed to attend the court, the judge upped his bond to $120,000 cash. |
