Lil Wayne: Leads in Grammy nominations
On Wednesday Lil Wayne, the most creative and successful musician leads in Grammy nomination thereby receiving 8 Grammy nominations including album of the year for "Tha Carter III."
Details about Lil Wayne have been inferred from quite a number of sources. Close on heels Coldplay received 7 nominations. The Grammy nominations were declared in a brand-new format this year, with an hour-long live prime-time CBS concert special that featured a brisk procession of performers and eminent personalities like LL Cool J and Taylor Swift as hosts.
Although the critics did not consider Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” as his greatest CD, it was the album that brought fame and fortune.
Following the general trend the Recording Academy typically declared nominations during a morning news conference. It was held as the prime-time event, which kicked off with Grammy winner of the previous year Mariah Carey singing a song from her classic Christmas album. She decked up in a short red mini dress to give some holiday cheer. Christina Aguilera sang "I Loves You Porgy," while the Foo Fighters rocked up Carly Simon's classic "You're So Vain."
Being organized at the Nokia Theatre, the show where Lil Wayne achieved nominations also celebrated the Saturday opening of the new Grammy Museum next door.
The Grammy Awards are scheduled for live broadcast on CBS on Feb 8. |
