Wildfire destroyed celebrities' homes in Calif
Montecito, a small Southern California community where many celebrities like Steven Spielberg, Michael Douglas, Steve Martin and Eric Schmidt live. A wildfire has reportedly destroyed their homes on Thursday.
"Back to the Future" actor Christopher Lloyd was among those unlucky persons whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the fire. Lloyd's house, valued at around $11 million, was partially burned. But Oprah Winfrey's home remains untouched.
Christopher Lloyd is a three-time Emmy Award-winning American actor. He is now 70 year old.
Timm Delaney, a real estate agent, who manages the property told that while Lloyd was thankfully not at home, his caretaker was forced to flee for his life from the fire.
Actor Rob Lowe said in a phone interview on Friday that there was no warning. He said, he was watching football with his son on Thursday night when his wife called to inform him of the fire.
According to a source, since the beginning of the fire in evening, more than 100 homes have been destroyed and 13 people have been injured.
Oprah Winfrey, who was in Chicago working on her show, said, "It started last night and so far it's been reported that as many as 100 homes have been destroyed. A lot of them are friends and neighbors of mine so it's not a good morning for us. Some of my friends left their homes with only their dogs last night as I was calling, 'Are you all right? Are you all right?' They said, 'We have the dogs and the kids aren't here so we're OK".
Nestled at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Montecito is only about 90 miles from Los Angeles and entertainers happily call the quiet and peaceful community of 10,000 residents home.
Delaney said, "It's an exclusive, sophisticated small coastal town. It's kind of an ideal place for the rich and famous to live". |
