 Paula Abdul: Fan found dead near her house
Paula Abdul, the famous singer, is in soup. A woman who once contested in the famous television show "American Idol" and seems to have been an obsessed fan of judge Paula was found dead of an apparent suicide near the residence of the pop star.
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Paula Abdul. Policemen said that they have identified the body of thirty-year-old Paula Goodspeed in a car near Los Angeles residence of the singer. The incident occurred on Tuesday night.
"It appears to be a suicide by overdose," added Detective Robert Bub of the Los Angeles Police Department.
He also said that the investigators also found prescription drugs in Goodspeed's car, along with several CDs and pictures of Paul Abdul.
In a statement Paula Abdul also has expressed her grief. She said that she was "deeply shocked and saddened" by Goodspeed's death, and that her "heart and prayers go out to her family."
In the year 2005, Goodspeed has given the audition for the famous television program of United States "American Idol," which lures over thirty million viewers every week. On the show itself she admitted that she had long been a fan of Abdul and had made life-size drawings of the pop star since her childhood.
Goodspeed sang the Tina Turner hit song "Proud Mary." However all the judges gave her bad reviews. Simon Cowell went to the extent of drawing attention of the braces that she wore in her mouth. He also said that he did not know how anyone could sing with "that much metal."
Goodspeed came from a suburb northwest of Los Angeles. According to Capt. Ross Bonfiglio, a spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, a close relative had reported about her missing to local authorities.
It is further said that Goodspeed had developed "a fixation, an obsession -- whatever you want -- with Paula Abdul," and had a history of mental illness.
Paula Abdul took the responsibility of a judge on the reality talent show titled "American Idol" since its first season in the year 2002.
