 David Duchovny: Sued newspaper for publishing fake story
On Wednesday "X-Files" star David Duchovny has sued a popular newspaper of Britain over a story that gave a hint that he cheated his wife, Tea Leoni.
More news on David Duchovny has been gathered from multiple sources. The lawsuit that was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court has brought the allegation of defaming and invading privacy. Duchovny sought 1 million dollars in damages.
Forty eight year old David Duchovny has portrayed the character of a womanizing novelist on the Showtime cable television series titled "Californication,”. Recently also he has been treated for sex addiction at a rehabilitation center.
David Duchovny and his wife tied knots for eleven years. However the couple got separated several months ago. The couple has 2 children.
In his lawsuit, Duchovny accused the newspaper for posting an online story on Saturday. According to the report he cheated on Leoni with tennis instructor namely Edit Pakay.
"This is false. It never happened," added the lawsuit.
However a representative for the newspaper could not immediately be reached for comment.
On Tuesday David Duchovny's lawsuit commented that the newspaper story was taken down from the paper's website.
But other news outlets picked up on the story and posted versions on their web sites, which caused "additional and further damage to David Duchovny." This too was mentioned in the lawsuit.
The lawsuit also stated that Duchovny never hired Pakay to be his tennis coach. Pakay also said that she is a friend of Duchovny, and that they played tennis a few times.
David Duchovny has planned to shoot in a film called "The Joneses," that was scheduled to be released sometime next year. |
