Ryan Oneal: Charged with drug possession
American actor Ryan Oneal and his son Redmond have been charged on Wednesday with possession of methamphetamine and other drug offenses stemming from a search of their home last month.
The 67 year old Ryan Oneal and his 23 year old son were arrested on September 17 after deputies searched their Malibu home, part of Redmond's probation. Police said drugs were found from their living area.
Both men were charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and the son was additionally charged with lesser counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of pepper spray.
Ryan Oneal's attorney Mark Werksman said, "I have full confidence that Ryan will be vindicated. Those were not Ryan's drugs, he doesn't use drugs, and has nothing to do with them. It's a dangerous assumption for deputies to have arrested Ryan just because he was in proximity to the drugs".
Felony drug possession carries a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison.
Ryan Oneal was the star of classic 1970s films "Love Story" and "Paper Moon". He was nominated for an Oscar movie "Love Story". |
