Don Cheadle: Replaces Howard in 'Iron Man' sequel
A surprise is waiting from Don Cheadle. In a surprise move, he is going to replace Terrence Howard as Robert Downey Junior's best friend in the film titled "Iron Man 2," the sequel to the superhero saga.
More news on Don Cheadle has been inferred from multiple sources. In the Marvel Studios summer smash, Howard has portrayed the character of Jim Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man's future armor-clad hero War Machine. There is a scene that featured Howard looking at a silver suit of armor and said "Next time," a line that has created huge delight amongst his fans.
However there will be no next time for Howard.
Although Marvel had no comment, close sources said that negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences. There were other reasons too. Marvel, which had wanted to work with Don Cheadle, then had taken the decision to accept the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is presently shooting Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest" with stars like Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke.
The Rhodes character is expected to play a larger part in the sequel, which is rumored to go beyond high-tech villains. Justin Theroux has taken the onus of writing the screenplay.
Currently Don Cheadle has starred in the film "Traitor," a thriller on which he was also a producer. He will next be seen in DreamWorks' "Hotel for Dogs." |
