 Dolly Parton: Selected as 'Smokies' ambassador
Dolly Parton, who often gives reference to her Smoky Mountains upbringing, is going to serve as the ambassador for the 75th anniversary of the ‘Great Smoky Mountains National Park’.
More news on Dolly Parton has been inferred from quite a number of sources. According to them, quite a number of events have been celebrated throughout the year 2009 thereby giving Congress' approval to form the park on June 15, 1934.
On Thursday Park Superintendent Dale Ditmanson commented that Parton has emerged as the obvious choice for the ambassador selection.
Dolly Parton, who grew up in the foothills of the Smokies in Tennessee's Sevier County, also has expressed her views in this matter. Although she has always been an advocate for the park, she is quite honored to become "official."
Sixty two year old country singer will provide endorsement through media announcements and publications and has written an album titled "Sha-Kon-O-Hey”, the phonetic spelling of the Cherokee words for "Land of Blue Smoke." |
