 James Earl Jones: Receives SAG lifetime achievement award
Singer James Earl Jones, whose beautiful voice gifted the world the character of villainous Darth Vader in "Star Wars", is going to receive life achievement award of the year 2008 from the Screen Actors Guild.

This time it will be presented to Jones in the month of January when the guild honors the top acting achievements of the year on television and film. A representative of SAG has brought out this news on Thursday.
The voice of James Earl Jones' voice became popular throughout the world in roles such as Mufasa, the king in Disney's "The Lion King", and also in several commercials. He also has a long and illustrious career on Broadway in roles like boxer Jack Johnson in "The Great White Hope". Also she acted in "Patriot Games" and "Cry the Beloved Country". So far as television is concerned, she played the character of Alex Hayley in "Roots:The Next Generation."
SAG president Alan Rosenberg also was available for comments. According to him, James Earl Jones was an outstanding actor whose long and quiet work off camera as an advocate for literacy and the arts "deserves our appreciation."
"Growing up, I was mute to the outside world, but there were hundreds of conversations in my head...Through a love of reading, I was able to overcome my muteness and pursue a career in which my voice would be my most prominent asset," added James Earl Jones by bringing out a statement. |
