 Mindy McCready: To serve jail time
American singer Mindy McCready has decided to surrender herself to Tennessee authorities on Tuesday to serve a 60-day jail sentence for violating probation on a previous drug-related charge. Her attorney Lee Ofman said this.
Lee Ofman said on Monday, "Once she's done with that time, Mindy has met all of her obligations under her probation sentence. We worked very hard to get her a deal, so we didn't have to have a probation violation".
The 32 year old Mindy McCready, whose hit albums are "Ten Thousand Angels" and "If I Don't Stay the Night", was accused in June of falsifying her community service records and charged with violating her probation. She entered rehab in July this year.
She received a suspended three-year sentence in 2004 for fraudulently obtaining prescription painkillers.
Mindy McCready said in a statement, "I am working very hard to put all of this behind me as quickly as possible so I can get back to what I love to do most: sing, write songs and entertain. I would like to thank my fans for their unwavering support as I continue to work on my recovery and to regain custody of my precious son, Zander".
Mindy McCready was accused of scuffling with her mother and resisting arrest at her mother's home in Fort Myers, Fla in July 2007. She was sentenced to prison for the probation violation and released last December. |
