 Al Franken: Wins senate nomination
A comedian and ex liberal radio talk show host has won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday in order to run for a U.S senate seat from Minnesota.
More news about Al Franken has been inferred from quite a number of sources. According to the returns from the primary election of the state during November election he will face incumbent Republican Senate Norm Coleman and also Dean Barkley of Independence Party have won the nominating contests.
Al Franken, who once starred on the late-night sketch comedy program "Saturday Night Live," outran 6 opponents, thereby taking sixty-six percent of the vote, with over half the returns counted.
Norm Coleman has only faced token opposition. Barkley topped amongst 7 candidates. He has got appointment to the U.S. Senate for a brief period of time by former third-party Gov. Jesse Ventura after Democratic Sen. Paul Wellstone passed away in a plane crash in the year 2002.
