Veteran director Michael Moore is all set to make release of his new film online and that too for free. In actuality Michael has got the inspiration from Neil Young and Radiohead.
More news on Michael Moore has been gathered from quite a number of sources.
According to them, the film is titled "Slacker Uprising," that centers on Moore's 62-city touring during the 2004 election to rally young voters. All North American residents can access the film as a free download for 3 weeks. It will start from 23rd September. An official announcement of the film is scheduled to be held on Friday.
Sources have thrown more light on the news of Michael Moore. The ninety-seven minute long "Slacker Uprising" will be the first major film to be released in such a manner. Last December, film named "Jackass 2.5" was streamed free and online. However it was only a collection of left over material from "Jackass 2." Morgan Freeman has co-founded companies like ClickStar, that made films still in theaters like 2006's "10 Items or Less". These films too are digitally available for purchase or rental.
Michael Moore also commented that "Slacker Uprising" cost about 2 million dollars to make and that he will end up paying about $1 million out of his pocket. Neither he nor the distributor, Brave New Films, plans to make profit from the release.
The last film of the director, "Sicko," also leaked online and was downloaded illegally in huge numbers. He said that this download, which is offered by BlipTV, would be of high-resolution.
Last week only Michael Moore released a paperback book, titled "Mike's Election Guide 2008”. Moreover he is presently busy working on a movie for theatrical release next year. That film is expected to examine America as an empire. However the director Michael Moore has declined to discuss anything in details.
For now, Michael Moore has high hopes that the film "Slacker Uprising" will help to inspire young people to vote this November. After over 20 million 18 to 29-year-olds cast ballots in the year 2004 (an 11 percent increase from 2000), he is hoping that even greater numbers of "slackers" will give vote this year.
Moore readily acknowledges this as a film for Democrats.
"This film, really isn't for anybody other than the choir”. "But that's because I believe the choir needs a song to sing every now and then." Michael Moore himself has made the comment. |
