Heath Ledger: Judge forestalls claims in lawsuit
On Wednesday a judge has dealt a serious blow to a lawsuit that was filed by a reporter of a celebrity magazine who has alleged a paparazzi agency of secretly filming Heath Ledger taking drugs in her hotel room.
Sources have thrown more light on this news of Heath Ledger. According to them, John S. Wiley Jr., the Superior Court Judge, tentatively has dismissed eleven out of twelve claims that were launched against the agency and two photographers. He said that most of the allegations lacked legal standing.
He has given permission of the attorneys to file an amended complaint that could restore some of the claims.
Presently the woman was on assignment for another popular magazine of United States.
According to the lawsuit, the tape was made after the Golden Globe awards in January 2006 and wasn't revealed until after the death of Heath Ledger from an accidental prescription of drug overdose earlier this year. "Entertainment Tonight" and its sister show, "The Insider," had planned to telecast the footage. However later they have canceled those plans after being pressurized from publicists and other supporters of Heath Ledger.
The video later came online.
The lawsuit stated that the video was shot from a balcony of the reporter's hotel room. It is also referred that Heath Ledger got upset when he realized that he was being taped. The photographers pacified Heath Ledger by telling him they would destroy the tape. This too was mentioned on the lawsuit.
Mara Buxbaum, a publicist who represented Heath Ledger, was not available for any kind of comments in the matter. |
