 Jackie Chan: Failed to feel depressed about small role in Beijing Olympics
On Wednesday Jackie Chan, the famous action star, commented that he was not upset about his small role in the opening and closing ceremonies of Beijing Olympic Games. He only said that he was quite happy to play any part for the promotion of the games.
Details about this news on Jackie Chan have been inferred from multiple sources. As per their reports this Chinese movie idol sang along with other singers at the end of both ceremonies. However the spotlight of attention fell on retired Chinese gymnast Li Ning who soared high being suspended by wires around the upper, inner rim of the Bird's Nest Stadium for lighting the Olympic cauldron.
"I don't question my role. When the Beijing Organizing Committee beckons, I'm there." On Wednesday the fifty four year old actor, who is renowned for his outstanding stunts, said that he did two commercials and a movie for promoting the games.
In his blog too, Jackie Chan has expressed his views. He said that he and his fellow performers had to wait for ten hours before appearing in the closing ceremony.
"No one asked, 'why are we stuck in this situation?' We just felt very honored and very happy that we participated in the Beijing Olympics," added Chan.
According to the actor, he got bored during the wait and then went into the stands in order to see the closing ceremony, which created a disturbance.
The actor also commented that the 2008 Olympic Games has helped to improve China's image.
"We let the whole world see a China that's different from the China in the past. It's an athletic China, a new China, a clean China, a China that has never been seen before," commented Jackie Chan.
Further Jackie Chan said that though he offered to transport the Olympic torch after coming down from a helicopter when he was a torchbearer during the torch relay in the southern Chinese beach resort city Sanya. However the Olympic organizers have dismissed the idea as being too dangerous.
"If something happened and I had to sacrifice myself for the country, I would feel very honored," added Jackie Chan. |
