 Isaac Hayes: Probably died of stroke
Isaac Hayes, the deep-voiced soul music star died of a stroke, sheriff's spokesman Steve Shular said on Tuesday.
No postmortem was performed, but paperwork filed by Isaac Hayes' family physician, Dr. David Kraus, shows the cause of death as a stroke.
Both Academy and Grammy awards winning musician, who once described himself as a "health fanatic", was being treated by Dr. Kraus for high blood pressure. Isaac Hayes was also suffered a non-fatal stroke last year.
His family members issued a statement on Tuesday, saying, "While he was an iconic figure to many, to us he was husband, father and friend. We will ever miss his love, wisdom, humor and the familiar comfort of his voice".
A memorial service will be performed on Monday at Hope Presbyterian Church in Cordova from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Isaac Hayes has recently finished his work on the upcoming movie "Soul Men", in which he played himself. The movie stars Samuel Jackson and Bernie Mac, who died on Saturday.
