 Angelina Jolie: Replaces Cruise in "Salt" thriller
According to a source, new mom Angelina Jolie is in negotiations to replace Tom Cruise in the "Edwin A. Salt", an espionage heroic tale, which was written to star Cruise.
Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer will redraft the script for Edwin A. Salt, a film that will now feature Angelina Jolie as the lead character, a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper spy who has to stay on the run until she can prove her innocence.
The title will also be changed. Phillip Noyce will direct the movie.
The project has a long history, with directors coming and going, though Cruise has long been tethered to it.
Angelina Jolie will also act in "Atlas Shrugged", an adaptation of the Ayn Rand novel. She intends to do both, though in what order remains unclear.
"Wanted", in which Angelina Jolie acted the role of an assassinator, has earned about $250 million at the worldwide box office. |
