 Bob Barker: Freed from allegation
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Malcom Mackey has dismissed a woman's wrongful termination claims against Bob Barker, former host of the CBS television game show "The Price is Right".
Deborah Curling, a former production assistant, filed a lawsuit against Bob Barker, CBS and production company FremantleMedia North America in October, claiming she faced retaliation after testifying against Barker in another wrongful termination lawsuit.
The judge determined that plaintiff Deborah Curling was employed by the network at the time and not by Bob Barker individually, which earns him a pass on the wrongful-termination claim. The judge tentatively dismissed several claims against Barker on Wednesday.
The judge also dismissed several claims lodged by Curling against FremantleMedia, but will allow Alden another chance to argue they should be included.
Attorneys for CBS and FremantleMedia refused to comment anything after the hearing.
Patty Glaser, an attorney for Bob Barker said, "We're very pleased because we don't think the claims should have been brought at all".
Nick Alden, an attorney for Curling said, "Bob Barker is not the main target on this lawsuit -- CBS is".
Barker isn't completely out of the case yet. The judge said that if the woman could prove that Barker inflicted some sort of emotional distress when she worked there then he could be brought back into the case.
The 84 year old Bob Barker retired last year after hosting "The Price is Right" for 35 years. |
