Dennis Farina: Pleads no contest to gun charge
Chicago born actor Dennis Farina has received two years probation after pleading no contest to a charge of bringing a loaded .22 caliber semiautomatic handgun into a secured area at Los Angeles International Airport. However the two years probation term will be dismissed after a year if he successfully completes it.
According to Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan, the court commissioner also ordered Dennis Farina, the "Law & Order" star to pay $US1990 ($A2000) in fines.
Mateljan also said that while on probation, the former policeman Dennis Farina, who was arrested on May 11 for having handgun in his briefcase, cannot own or carry a gun.
He promptly apologised after his arrest and said to airport police that he has forgotten the gun is in his baggage.
The 64 year old Dennis Farina, who did not appear in court, has other charges of carrying a concealed weapon and a loaded firearm. Later the charges were dismissed.
Dennis Farina has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies, including a three-year stint on "Law & Order" as detective Joe Fontana. |
